Daniel and David

Daniel is my "Bud," besides that, he’s my friend.

I first met Daniel when I became his peer tutor. As his peer tutor, my job was to help him learn basic survival skills to help him be more independent as he got older; things like how to ride the bus, fold laundry, shop for groceries and count money. What I found, was that he taught me more important things than I would teach him. He taught me the true meaning of love and friendship and what it means to "be there."

I’m not sure when we stopped calling each other by our given names. David and Daniel were quickly and simply replaced with "Bud." "Bud" became our name in common, the one we shared and knew each other by.

Although a good portion of my book, A Wider Road is dedicated to my friendship and experiences with Daniel, the best way to understand our special friendship is to take the time to watch the following video clip that started it all...
